Office and shop AC load calculator

Get a first estimate of the cooling load for a commercial space, and the type of system that usually fits.

Suggested system

VRF or ducted split

This is a first estimate from rules of thumb. For a quote, our engineers do a site survey and a proper heat-load calculation, free for projects above 5 TR in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.

Book a free site survey

Our commercial team designs and installs VRF and ducted systems for offices, showrooms, clinics and hotels.

We reply in about 15 minutes, Mon to Sat, 9 AM to 7 PM.

What raises the load

  • People: each person adds 450 to 1,000 BTU/h, more in a gym.
  • Equipment: every kW of computers, lights or machines adds 3,412 BTU/h.
  • Glass fronts and top floors add 10 to 15%.

Read when a VRF system makes sense.

Common questions

›How many tons of AC for a 1,000 sq ft office?

About 8 to 10 TR in Gujarat, depending on people, computers and glass. Use the calculator for your numbers.

›When should an office use VRF instead of split ACs?

When the load is above about 6 to 8 TR, or when you have many cabins that need separate control. VRF uses one outdoor unit for many indoor units and saves power at part load.

›Do you do a proper heat-load calculation?

Yes. For projects above 5 TR in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, our engineers visit the site and prepare the heat load and layout free.
